Great space for sports, a cold beverage & fresh ingredients! I don't always like to drink so I love that they have non-alcoholic beer options that taste amazing. Paired well with my go-to Caesar salad (for meat eaters add chicken) and a side of buffalo sauce.
But overall if you're trying to sneak away from the noise on Rainey proper and still wanna have a good time you should definitely grab a seat here.
I was a bit dubious when it took a while to get service, they were pretty packed though. That pizza though. Absolutely worth the wait. Their crust has flavor and a fantastic crunch while not being so crunchy it detracts from the rest of the pie. It's kind of pricy, but worth it.
Salvation Pizza
BLUF: Huge assortment of pizza toppings. Awesome house combinations. Full bar. Tap selection is limited.
I came here specifically for the calzone and I wasn’t disappointed. It comes standard as cheese the size of a football. But you can add up to three “toppings” to it. I chose Italian sausage, meatball, and spinach. For a base price of $13 it’s a pretty good deal. The atmosphere is that of a typical sports bar and grill. The square footage is a little small overall. Plenty of screens, almost 1 per table if my count is right. There is a pool table, although one side is a little close to the street-facing windows. Bartender is super friendly and the food came out fast and perfect.
Called in after a walk downtown (we were staying nearby).
Got a nice friendly welcome and drinks were brought to us straight away. I had a "small" pizza and my wife had lasagne. To us Europeans these were large portions and we had to take some food with us when we left. Tried a couple of IPA's, both good. Pizza was excellent. Only gave 4 * for atmosphere because it was a little quiet in there late afternoon.
We had a great pizza here! I would say it's more a NYC-NHV hybrid, as we didn't have much char, but the crust bubbles, sauce, and cheese ratio were perfect. I would definitely recommend.
Just had an amazing bacon and cheese burger at Salvation Pizza! The atmosphere and Jo Jo's hospitality is exactly what you expect to find in the south. She's awesome! Hopefully, you'll give them a try if you're in Austin by the lake.
My favourite neighborhood bar / food spot in Austin. They used to do late night slices and the pizza was bomb but they changed to only doing "personal pizzas" after a certain time. Now I have to order a whole pizza and it's doughy as hell, when I just wanted a regular slice of new haven / new york style pizza. That kind of sucks. But the staff are the best in Austin and the vibe is always amazing
Stopped in on a whim on my walk today. I sat at the bar and was greeted right away from the friendliest waitress I have had in a long time! I watched her go above and beyond with various customers, anticipating needs before they arose. Her upbeat disposition and smile was contagious. I think her name was Emily? Not positive though.
She suggested a few menu items to try and I landed on the burger. She let me customize it to my liking. It was cooked to perfection. 👌🏻 I also had a Red Bull watermelon margarita which was delicious.
Came last year with my teenage son and he loved it so we came again. Once again very solid. I think their Greek salad is phenomenal and my son loved the garlic knots. They only have small and large pizza and dining with a teen boy I assumed we needed a large. Not true! Lol. The large was HUGE - way too much for two people - but it was only $4 more than the small so I wasn’t mad they did not warn me. But def be careful how much to order. Otherwise great pizza. Basic sports bar vibes / lots of TVs - not much standout except the great food! Highly recommend
Salvation Pizza has some of the best pizza ever! And the service is top notch - especially from Jen! She was so friendly, attentive and gave us wonderful recommendations for places to go and things to do in Austin. We will definitely be returning!
The pizza is very good! Anything you order here is delicious! The staff is awesome. The huge big screens for the games are fantastic!
If you go late, prepare to be chill. Never know who you will meet or what condition they will be in. Staff is excellent. Tip them heavily!
Jen was the best! Such a friendly atmosphere.
Jen was the best! Great server!
Been going to this place for a couple of years now. The food is fresh and with good ingredients. Service is also good. The atmosphere good a little too jumpy to my taste I liked it when the place was a lot more chill.
Good pizza and beer. New TV set up. Lots of crisp TVs for all the games. Shows fights too. Laid back and not as Rainey as the rest of Rainey
I came in from out of town for work, Julianna was my bartender, and she was amazing!!! Great drinks, great atmosphere, and the service was spectacular!!! I will be coming back.
I just moved in next door and this was the closest restaurant to me. I wasn’t really craving pizza but man did this place exceed my expectations! The servers were super friendly and hardworking even though they were busy. I wish I would have remembered their names. I got the 14” and added red onion, shrimp and artichokes. This is my go to now!! I already know this place is going to take all of my money.
The best place in downtown Austin to grab some food, watch a game, or hang out with friends. Couldn't commend the team here enough. Every time I have stopped in, they always make the experience at Salvation welcoming and enjoyable to be around! Also - special shoutout to the pepperoni rolls and the painkiller slushee, those are both great options.
Always love coming here and sitting outside since it's usually in the shade between buildings. Prosciutto goat cheese pizza is our favorite! Kid-friendliness: We usually sit outside for the best experience but kids would be fine inside too.
Best place for pizza if you haven't tried it you come on down
Got here at closing time and was taken care very well. Thanks for going over your scheduled hrs. To serve
Pies are decent, like 8.1 no flop…however the staff is what makes this a weekly. The way they treat dogs, and customers is top notch. Never been treated so well at nice pie joint. 🤛
Great pizza on Rainey! Loved their fresh GF margharite pizza and so happy to know they make their own dough. Salads are fresh and dressing is also homemade. My husband loved their cannoli’s. I loved their frosty “pain killer” cocktail. Ask about it 😍 Dietary restrictions: Gluten free available
Fast friendly Service. Great tasting pizza. Place is a little dark.
First stop on our Rainey Street visit where we enjoyed the best slice of pizza and a Lone Star to start the afternoon. We call this “vacation pizza” because there’s nothing like it back home. Huge slices, flavorful, served hot very quickly. Recommend this stop to everyone!
Excellent pizza and slice was huge. Meatballs were good also but a bit spicy.
Would definitely return for a slice.
I recently traveled to Austin with friends for a concert. We stayed right around the corner from Salvation Pizza and decided to check it out before the concert. Salvation Pizza did not disappoint. The server (Selena) was the only front of house employee when we arrived. She did a wonderful job navigating the bar & tables all while being a great host. We ordered a custom pizza and the macaroni. They both were delicious. My surprise mocktail was fruity and fun. It might be my new favorite pizza place. I wish I didn't live over 1000 miles away. Selena was very personable, took note of the odd requests of our order, and all in all was wonderful. She definitely made our experience a 5 star experience.
They have great service. I really like their bbq wings!!
Food here is really good. We ordered Greek salads with chicken and garlic knots. Everything was fresh and delicious. The vibe was low key- good place to watch football. It did take longer than expected to get our food. We would definitely be back though.
We were in Austin on vacation, and this was the 1st place we ate. The food was great, but the service could have been better.
Over on Rainey St. you'll find Salvation Pizza which serves huge slices of pizza as late as midnight on the weekdays and 2AM on the weekends!
They specialize in New Haven-style pizza, which is known for a thin crust with a distinctive snap and crunch. It tastes good and beats a few other pizza slice spots (Dollar Slice Club & Roppolo's for example) and this thing is huge and for about $6 it's a great price!
When it comes to these late-night Rainey St. spots, this is probably one of the better ones out there, so next time you're down here, consider coming here for your late night munchies! I give em a 3.75/5 for having some good and some great qualities!
